Oscar-winning actor Heath Ledger's unintentional death
brings attention to misuse of prescription drugs

 

Ledger's recent death highlights the dangers of mixing sleep remedies with other medications. In a Los Angeles Times article, Michael Negrete, chief executive of the Pharmacy Foundation of California stated: "People have a false sense of security. They think, 'I see it on TV all the time. All my friends are taking it.' People need to understand that no matter how many times they see a drug on TV, these are dangerous medications."
